Our HTS tour guide will pick up at 8:30am from your hotel and transfer you to Co Loa ancient Citadel,then to Bat Trang Ceramic village for exploration, then before you return to your hotel you will enjoy a Wellness Clinic experience.
Join us, off the beaten tracks of mass tourism, and discover the ancient Co Loa Citadel site. Built in the 3rd century it is Vietnam’s oldest fortified citadel and has somehow been overlooked in the mass tourism but it is a very historical and interesting place to visit.
After a short drive to Hanoi’s outskirts, we arrive at Co Loa, and our walk around the historical complex gets underway. The citadel was carefully constructed, like a fortress, with massive spiral earthen walls which rivers and waterways passed beneath and entrances from one ‘ring’ to another offset and surrounded by defense mounds so that any invaders would encounter many problems.
Many remnants remain today; an imperial palace, ancient buildings, a sacred water-well, a wonderfully preserved temple and a “magic” cross-bow are amongst other remnants found here, and excavations,some as late as 2007, have revealed some stunning artifacts and relics that are on display, and help give an understanding of the era the citadel was built.
After you enjoy a Vietnamese lunch, you will move to the Bat Trang Ceramic Village.
The Bat Trang Ceramic Village is a 500-year-old village, and is located about 10 km northeast of Hanoi on the left bank of the Red River.
Bat Trang ceramics are truly the pride of Vietnam.
According to Vietnam’s famous history book, Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu, the name of Bat or Bat Trang Commune was first known in 1352. However, unofficial records said that in the Ly dynasty (1010-1225), villagers from Bo Bat commune in Ninh Binh Province resettled in this area and called it Bat Trang Commune.
Before come back to your hotel you will enjoy an invigorating Vietnamese Massage at the Sen Wellness Clinic. On arrival at the clinic you will be welcomed and escorted to a room to change. (Both men and women are welcome here, and there are separate rooms for males and females). The experience begins with a soaking herbal bath, followed by a delightful spa bath with massaging jets if water. The sauna room awaits you and the hot and steamy room helps extract the dirt or other foreign bodies from the pores of your skin. After you leave the sauna you receive a cool water rinse, to close your skin pores, change into some dry togs (supplied) and go to the massage room for your lengthy massage. It is a wonderful way to re-invigorate yourself, and a wonderful experience.
On completion of your treatment you will be returned to your Hanoi hotel.
