I booked a Mai Chau 1 day tour with HTS Tour for my family. We chose HTS because they offered a private tour in an air-conditioned car and it was very hot and the kids were complaining. They, and my wife and I really enjoyed it. The white Thai people were very pleasant and made a fuss of the children, and our day trip was perfect. The food for lunch was very good, and the host of the eatery made sure our kids ate well. Our walk in the Valley was delightful, meeting the locals going about their chores, I don’t know if the walk was tailored a bit for the children but it was an easy walk. Our driver was very informative and we stopped for breaks when the children were restless, and also to take photos of some places we passed. All in all it was a great day and the air-conditioned vehicle was excellent.
I had been told of the beauty of the Mai Chau valley and took a private vehicle through HTS Tours to see for myself. After stopping on our way for a drink break we arrived at the top of a ridge that overlooked the stunning valley and stopped for a photo opportunity, it was a really picturesque sight. Descending into the valley to the township of Mai Chau was just as beautiful and I tucked straight into the White Thai traditional lunch that was served. Following the meal I rode a push-bike between on paths between the rice paddies and through some neighbouring villages, accompanied by a local guide. It was a wonderful experience to meet some of the friendly locals who all had beaming smiles. I purchased a scarf from a woman that was working a loom, and my day in Mai Chau was over. I fell asleep on the way back to Hanoi, but not until we had left the valley and were on the highway back to the hotel.
