  1. Valerie Laura says:

We travelled with HTS Tour Company on a deluxe private tour to the Perfume Pagoda in an air-conditioned car with a guide and both of us were stunned by the amount of ‘pilgrims’ that ventured there. On arrival at a pier we boarded a boat propelled by a local to the base of a mountain and then by cable car to the summit. Our guide then explained that we were there during “festival” time and we may have a hassle to enter the maim cave. We pushed on and found many people inside so we shuffled along with them, seeing it all. We then decided to walk down from the summit and visit the many other sites that a good ‘pilgrim’ should, and at the base of the mountains had some food in a restaurant there. After another boat ride back to our vehicle we headed back to Hanoi. On reflection we were glad of the timing of our tour, as it was an eye-opener to us to see the solid and devout Buddhist’s paying homage to Buddha.
